Behind the Scenes: Reece

Better late than never, here are a few adorable behind the scenes shots from my shoot with the very beautiful Reece from JE Model. She's easily my new favorite model - I loved her attitude, look, and she was very easy to work with. She showed up with messy hair and great flannel, so I instantly said
"We don't even need styling!"

But my newest style, Josie, kicks ass, and Reece ended up looking pretty fantastic in the outfits Josie had picked out. Photos forthcoming! Can't wait to show you all.

Bosnia Instagrammage

Bosnia wasn't really part of the plan when I began my little world tour, but my friends really wanted to go and an opportunity to be with some locals became evident so...I went with it, of course! Bosnia is a beautiful country with a tragic very recent history. I was completely overwhelmed with emotion when I was there, and I hate to say it, but I was happy to be able to leave.

Croatia Instagrammage

I did a lot of traveling last year (nine countries, woo!) and people often like to ask me which one was my favorite. The answer is usually that it's a toss up between Croatia and Morocco. Morocco had such a rich country and wonderful people, but Croatia was just such beautiful beaches and scenery! It honestly us a little pristine paradise that people are only starting to become aware of. Personally, my favorite city was split. These images are from my Instagram so keep up with me over there if you wish!

Preview: Kalyn Joy

Kalyn Joy of Stars Model Management drove six hours to meet me for a shoot last Saturday - that's dedication. I'm sorry this is the second preview shot in a row. As you can imagine, I'm sitting under a pile of editing, in addition to a ton of other work. Regardless, new photos are on their way! Makeup by Inna Mathews, styling and photography by me.

Day of the Dead: Mixquic

The last day of the Day of the Dead celebration was definitely the most interesting as well as the most intense. This is due to the fact that the second Day of the Dead is generally deemed to be the more important of the two, and also because we went to a southern Barrio of Mexico City called Mixquic, which is known for its Day of the Dead celebrations.

The graveyard procession you may know about actually happened the day before (at midnight I believe) so unfortunately my friends and I missed that, but we spent the day exploring the Mixquic market before seeing the graveyard, which was beautifully decorated with flowers as you can see.

Preview: Bryce

I hope you guys aren't tired of all the travel photos I've been posting, because there's still a lot more I want to show you! However, don't think I've given up shooting models and awesome clothes just yet. Here's a preview of a shoot I did with Bryce of Stars Model Management last Saturday (MU by Inna Mathews). More to come!

Day of the Dead in Mexico City: Coyocan

We spent the first day of Day of the Dead in Coyocan, the neighborhood Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived in. We actually spent the morning in the museum that Frida Kahlo's house now is, though none of these photos are from there. I took only my film camera and unfortunately for me it was rather cloudy and getting photos in that low light was difficult. Not only that, but I forgot my telephoto lens, which made candids even more difficult. Regardless, I hope you can see a little of what Dia De Los Muertos looks like in this neighborhood of Mexico City. To hear it, check out my Instagram here or here. Beautiful and a little creepy, huh?

Here I am inside Frida Kahlo's house. I was filled with glee!

Next I'll cover day two of Dia De Los Muertos, which we spent in Mixquic, a southern barrio in Mexico City, which happens to be where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera liked to spend their Day of the Dead Holiday.
