Knick Knack Grab Bag

I recently took my wonderful sister-in-law to the flea market, and I also took her to the North Beach area of SF, my favorite! The only picture in this set of me was taken by my sister in law (and yes, I bought the crazy necklace). The last photo of this set is my brother with his wife :) they got married in February.

A Chance Encounter with Disaster

Part of winning is learning to accept defeat...

Every bad shoot I ever have takes a toll on me. I usually go into hiding for months, only willing to take out the camera to test some shots on myself. I take photos of flowers and trees and try to look within myself for the inspiration that I had not that long ago....

Reading a blog post and then another by a photographer I really admire and seeing that she too has off days has helped me significantly. Maybe the key to growing lies in the chance encounter with disaster. Furthermore, I met up with fellow photog Raj today for some coffee/indian food (I had the coffee, he had the Indian food). I jokingly told him to bring the inspiration, and he told me to bring mine. We chatted about our lives, our camera gear (he has much cooler stuff than me), our favorite models and what makes a good photographer and a good photograph. Our work is very different but I feel like there's some sort of harmony there too, and we've worked with a lot of the same people. Just talking to him, I felt a little more brave to get out there and shoot again.

I'm going to be doing some traveling come beginning of June, but until then I'm going to try and shoot as much as possible. We're almost done with April and I can count the shoots I've done on my two hands! I'm hoping to shoot with one of my two Nikkies soon (the lovely Nikkie S.), and I'm planning some stuff with some new models and some fresh faces. Hopefully all goes well.

I'm turning 25 next month. Oh how time flies...

A Wink And A Smile

Yummy. More juicy inspirational photos. Photos by Joseph Tran, Paolo Roversi, Guy Aroch, Wildfox, and unknown. I wish I kept better track of who the photogs are and where I got the photos, but unfortunately I just save them to my computer with random names...

You've Been Thrifted.net

I think I've mentioned my buddy Lindsay in a new posts but have never given much explanation as to who she is. Lindsay is the owner of the ebay vintage store Thrifted.net, and sometimes she styles for me. If any of you recall the shopping-cart-night-shoot and the sexy-minnie-mouse-shoot, Lindsay was responsible for styling for both (though I enjoy bringing jewelry!). Her store is phenomenal, and it keeps getting better and better. I think it's about time I do a little feature on her. I love all of her models, but Erin is my absolute favorite due to her red hair and fanciful movement. We have much more in the works together, and in addition to being a great vintage buyer, she's also very good at putting outfits together. I love her selection of accessories.

Please note that I did not take these photos - Lindsay takes all of the store's photos herself and the photos are her property.

All of these items are current, so check them out before it's too late!
